HomeTable is an online discovery and connection platform for independently operated, licensed California Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (MEHKOs). Before a kitchen profile is published, HomeTable manually reviews the permit information and documentation submitted by the operator. HomeTable does not prepare or sell food, accept food orders, process food payments, manage reservations, or provide delivery services.
How HomeTable Supports Safety and Transparency
Permit Verification
HomeTable manually reviews the MEHKO permit information and documentation submitted by each kitchen before approving and publishing its profile.
Local Oversight
MEHKO permits and inspections are issued and administered by the appropriate local environmental health agency, not by HomeTable.
Direct Communication
Consumers communicate directly with the independently operated kitchen regarding food, availability, payment, pickup, and other arrangements.
Transparency & Legal Framework
HomeTable operates solely as a discovery and connection platform. We do not prepare or sell food, accept food orders, process food payments, manage reservations, or provide delivery services. Each participating kitchen is independently owned and operated and remains responsible for complying with all applicable MEHKO requirements.
HomeTable manually reviews submitted permit documentation before a kitchen profile is approved. A kitchen may display the “MEHKO License Verified” designation only after that review has been completed. Kitchens must maintain a current permit to remain eligible for publication. If HomeTable becomes aware that a permit has expired, been suspended, revoked, or is otherwise no longer valid, the related profile may be unpublished or suspended while the matter is reviewed.
MEHKO requirements, permitted activities, and program availability vary by jurisdiction. Consumers and kitchen operators should verify current requirements with the appropriate local environmental health agency.
Insurance Responsibility
HomeTable does not carry liability insurance covering incidents arising from the sale or consumption of food listed or promoted on the HomeTable platform.
Each independently operated kitchen is solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining any insurance required by applicable law or otherwise appropriate for its business operations.
HomeTable strongly encourages all kitchen operators to maintain appropriate general liability insurance before listing or promoting food on the HomeTable platform.
